Manscaped Lawn Mower Go Review: Great for Balls but not so good for body

The Manscaped Lawn Mower Go is a smaller, simpler and much cheaper alternative to the Lawn Mower 5.0 Ultra. At under $50, it's one of the cheapest trimmers Manscaped makes, and that price immediately made me want to know whether it could genuinely handle the area that matters most: my balls and groin.
So I put it through a proper test, letting things grow out before I even switched it on, then kept using it regularly to see how it held up for everyday maintenance.
After several weeks of that, my answer is yes.
In fact, I like it enough below the belt that I've added the Lawn Mower Go to my guide to the 5 Best Ball Trimmers for Men in 2026, where it's my Best Affordable Ball Trimmer.
But there is a catch.
On my balls and groin, the smaller size and gentler power actually work in its favour — it's less powerful than the Ultra, but that also makes it feel less scary to use, and I never once worried about it. On my bum it held up surprisingly well too. On my chest and stomach, that's a different story — the lower power became a real limitation and I felt some pulling.
So this isn't a cheaper Lawn Mower 5.0 Ultra. It's a compact groin trimmer that knows exactly where it works best.
The Manscaped Lawn Mower Go is a very good ball and groin trimmer for under $50. Its smaller size and gentler power make it easy to control around sensitive areas, but I found it much less convincing on larger areas like my chest.
How I Tested the Manscaped Lawn Mower Go
When Manscaped sent me the Lawn Mower Go, I was spending a month in the south of France and the trimmer was waiting for me back home in the UK.
Instead of keeping everything closely groomed as I normally do, I deliberately let the hair around my balls and groin grow longer than usual. By the time I returned home, there was considerably more hair for the Go to deal with.
I started with the guard on its lowest setting around my balls and above the penis, then removed the guard in a few areas to see how close it could trim. I used it again three days later to see how it performed for normal maintenance.
I also tested it on my chest and bum, because Manscaped positions it as a groin and body hair trimmer. That turned out to be useful — its performance below the belt was noticeably better than it was on larger body areas.
The Go is small and simple, but I really like the rubberised feel. It’s comfortable to hold, especially when trimming delicate areas.
Design and First Impressions
The first thing I noticed is how small the Lawn Mower Go is next to the 5.0 Ultra. It's a simple trimmer, and I actually like that.
The rubberised body gives me an excellent grip, which matters when you're working somewhere that losing control isn't appealing. It's light, compact and easy to manoeuvre around tight spaces. You get two combs, USB-C charging and, surprisingly for the price, an LED light. It doesn't feel premium, but it doesn't feel cheap either — for the money, Manscaped spent it in the right places.
Performance on My Balls and Groin: Better Than Expected
The first time I switched it on, I noticed straight away it wasn't as powerful as my 5.0 Ultra. Around my balls, I actually liked that.
Remember all that extra growth I'd left while I was in France? With the comb on its lowest setting, the Go handled it well. I needed more than one pass, but the smaller head and gentler power made it feel manageable around loose skin, and I finished close and tidy with almost no visible hair.
I then went in without the comb around the base of the penis and the surrounding groin, taking my time and stretching the skin where it needed it. It isn't the fastest trimmer I've used, but around my balls I'd rather spend an extra minute than feel like I'm operating industrial machinery.
On My Chest? Not Nearly as Good
I don't have a lot of chest hair, but I like it kept short. Here the lower-powered motor showed itself — hair caught around the comb and I felt some pulling. No cuts, but not comfortable enough that I'd reach for it regularly. The Go is a much better groin trimmer than it is an all-over body trimmer. If you trim your chest or stomach regularly, spend more and get something stronger.
“Just aim for the groin.” After testing the Go on my chest as well, I think that’s pretty good advice.
Three Days Later: Normal Maintenance
Three days after the first test, I used it again with much less hair on the go. It was excellent — quickly back to the length I wanted, close and tidy. This is where the Go makes the most sense: not a heavy-duty body groomer, but a small trimmer you keep in the bathroom or a travel bag to stop things getting out of hand.
My balls are happy, I'm happy, and my wife is happy too.
For less than $50, that's a good result.
The rubberised finish gives the Go a comfortable grip, and the included lanyard is a useful extra for travelling or storage.
Go vs 5.0 Ultra — Which One Should You Buy?
The 5.0 Ultra is more powerful, feels more premium, and is still the ball trimmer I trust most overall. The Go is smaller, cheaper and simpler — but for straightforward ball and groin maintenance, that simplicity works in its favour.
Choose the Ultra if intimate grooming is a regular part of your routine and you want Manscaped's best. Choose the Go if you want something compact and affordable, focused mainly on keeping your balls and groin tidy. The Go doesn't replace the Ultra — it's a cheaper way into the range.

Who Is the Lawn Mower Go For?
Anyone who wants a small, affordable trimmer mainly for their balls and groin. It's also a solid travel option — barely takes up space, easy to charge. If you already own a powerful body trimmer for chest and stomach, the Go works well as a dedicated intimate trimmer alongside it. If you want one device for everything, look elsewhere.
Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?
Yes — if you're buying it mainly for your balls and groin. It's small, easy to control, comfortable around delicate areas, and leaves me close and tidy every time.
It isn't as powerful as the 5.0 Ultra, but around my balls that's not really a disadvantage — the smaller body and gentler power make it easy to trust. I wouldn't make it my main body groomer; my chest test showed its limits clearly enough.
But as a sub-$50 ball and groin trimmer, it's excellent. It won't replace my 5.0 Ultra. But if I wanted a small, inexpensive trimmer whose only job was keeping my balls tidy, this is the one I'd buy.
