AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer Review: Three Weeks in a Busy Family Kitchen
With four children at home, life can get pretty busy, and finding simple ways to introduce better habits into our daily routine isn't always easy. That's why the AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer has been such a welcome addition to our kitchen.
For the past three weeks, we've been enjoying freshly made fruit juices instead of reaching for the usual supermarket drinks. And I have to say, the difference in taste and quality has been remarkable. Even the kids love it, although they're quite particular about how sweet their orange juice should be!
But what I particularly enjoy is the whole process of preparing the fruit and making something fresh for the family. It's a small change to our routine, but a rather satisfying one.
So, after three weeks of regular use, is the AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer worth the investment? Here's my experience.
The AMZCHEF's filtration system helps produce wonderfully smooth juice with very little pulp. It works extremely well, although cleaning all those tiny holes takes a little patience.
Design and Build Quality: A Premium Appliance That Looks Good in the Kitchen
First impressions matter, and the AMZCHEF certainly made a good one.
The machine feels solid, strong and very well constructed. I was particularly impressed with the overall finish, which gives it a much more premium feel than I expected.
I also think it looks rather good on our kitchen worktop.
Now, it's not a small appliance, and I wouldn't pretend otherwise. But it doesn't take up an unreasonable amount of space either, which is important in a family kitchen where every bit of worktop seems to be occupied by something!
Assembly is straightforward, and after putting it together for the first time, I quickly became familiar with the different parts.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the design. It's an appliance I don't mind leaving on display, rather than hiding it away in a cupboard.
The 6.5-Inch Feeding Chute: Do You Really Need to Use Whole Fruit?
One of the main selling points of this AMZCHEF juicer is the large 6.5-inch feeding chute. In theory, it allows you to add whole fruits without spending too much time cutting everything into smaller pieces.
And yes, I've tried putting whole apples and oranges into the machine.
However, I've found that cutting the fruit in half beforehand gives me better results (always peel the oranges!).
Even AMZCHEF recommends cutting certain fruits in its recipe instructions, so this isn't particularly surprising.
Personally, I don't see this as a disadvantage.
Sometimes I think we're becoming a little too obsessed with saving time. Is cutting an apple in half really such a difficult task?
I actually enjoy spending a few minutes preparing the fruit. It makes the whole experience a little more satisfying.
The large feeding chute is still a great feature because there's no need to chop everything into tiny pieces. But don't expect to eliminate preparation completely.
And to be fair, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
Juice Quality: This Is Where the AMZCHEF Really Impressed Me
Let's get to the most important part of this review: the juice itself.
And this is where the AMZCHEF really shines.
Over the past three weeks, I've tried oranges, grapes, apples, bananas, strawberries, carrots, melon and mango, experimenting with different combinations depending on what we have in the fridge.
The results have been excellent.
What impresses me most is the texture. The juice is incredibly smooth, with just a tiny amount of pulp. It's fresh, full of flavour and genuinely enjoyable to drink.
The machine uses a slow cold-press system and triple-layer filtration to extract the juice and separate much of the pulp.
I haven't measured the extraction yield scientifically, but judging by what we've been drinking, I'm more than happy with the results.
And the difference compared with our usual supermarket juices?
For me, it's night and day.
That's not to say that all supermarket juices are bad, but there is something about the freshness and natural flavour of juice made at home that I find difficult to beat.
It's probably the biggest reason why I've enjoyed using this machine so much.
Is It Practical for a Busy Family With Children?
With four children at home, I wanted to know whether the AMZCHEF would be practical for making juice for several people, rather than just one glass at a time.
The answer is yes, although there are some limitations.
In my experience, the machine produces enough for approximately four to five glasses in a typical session, depending on the ingredients and serving size.
That's perfectly reasonable for us.
When I'm working from home, I often make a fresh juice just for myself, which is very straightforward. And when the family wants some, preparing a larger batch is easy enough.
What Do My Wife and Children Think?
My wife and I completely agree on one thing: the quality of the juice is outstanding.
The children love it too, although we've discovered that the choice of fruit makes a big difference.
If the oranges are nice and sweet, everyone enjoys it. But when they're particularly sharp, the children are the first to complain!
And to be fair, they're right.
The AMZCHEF makes excellent juice, but it can't turn a sour orange into a sweet one.
That's part of the fun, though. Choosing the fruit, trying different combinations and discovering what everyone likes.
It's also a nice way of getting the family involved in preparing something fresh together.
Is the AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer Noisy?
Not at all, at least not compared with what I expected.
The AMZCHEF has a 250W motor that operates at a relatively slow speed of 60 RPM, and I've found it pleasantly quiet during normal use.
Of course, it makes some noise, but nothing that bothers me or the rest of the household.
That's certainly appreciated in a busy kitchen.
What About Safety?
Safety is always important, particularly when you have children around.
The AMZCHEF has a safety-lock system designed to stop the machine when the feeding chute is opened.
The whole appliance feels stable and well constructed, and I've had no safety concerns during my three weeks of use.
Of course, like any kitchen appliance with moving parts, it should be operated according to the instructions, and young children should always be supervised.
Cleaning the AMZCHEF Juicer: The One Area That Could Be Better
Cleaning the AMZCHEF is generally straightforward, but some fruit pulp can get stuck in the filter. Thankfully, the included cleaning brush makes removing it much easier.
Now, cleaning a juicer is probably nobody's favourite activity.
And unfortunately, this is one area where the AMZCHEF could be improved.
Most of the components are relatively easy to remove and rinse after use. However, the filter requires a little more attention.
Some of the pulp can get trapped inside, and simply running it under the tap doesn't always remove everything.
Fortunately, AMZCHEF includes a special cleaning brush, which makes the job much easier.
It's not particularly difficult, but it does take a little patience.
I've also noticed that when I'm making just one glass for myself, the whole process feels considerably easier to manage.
Would I like the cleaning process to be simpler? Absolutely.
But here's the thing: the quality of the juice is so good that I genuinely don't mind spending a little extra time cleaning the machine.
For me, it's a small compromise.
Is Freshly Made Juice Really Better Than Supermarket Juice?
One of the reasons I was interested in the AMZCHEF was that I wanted our family to rely less on packaged juice drinks, particularly those with added sugars and other unnecessary ingredients.
And after three weeks, I definitely prefer making our own.
I love knowing exactly which fruits and vegetables we're using, without needing to add anything else.
From a taste and enjoyment perspective, the difference has been remarkable.
For us, making fresh juice is simply another enjoyable part of our routine, and I like having control over what goes into every glass.
A Little Bit of Slow Living in a Busy Household
This is something I hadn't really expected when I started using the AMZCHEF.
I've actually started enjoying the whole process of making juice.
We're constantly rushing around, trying to get things done as quickly as possible. And with four children and a full-time job, believe me, I know what that's like.
But sometimes I think we need to slow down a little.
Taking some fruit out of the fridge, cutting it, choosing a combination and watching the machine prepare a fresh juice has become a rather pleasant routine.
Yes, it's much quicker to grab a carton from the fridge.
But is it as satisfying? Not for me.
There's something nice about preparing something yourself, even if it takes a few extra minutes.
And I think that's what I enjoy most about this machine.
It encourages me to slow down, take a little more care over what I'm preparing and enjoy the simple things.
Perhaps that's what slow living is really about. Not making everything complicated, but appreciating those little moments we normally rush through.
What About Nut Milk and Frozen Fruit?
AMZCHEF also advertises this juicer as suitable for preparing nut milk and processing frozen fruit.
I haven't tested either feature, simply because nut milk isn't something we enjoy in our household, and I'm not particularly keen on frozen fruit.
Instead, I've concentrated on the things we actually use a juicer for: fresh fruit and vegetable drinks.
And in that respect, I have very few complaints.
Is the AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer Worth the Investment?
Let's be clear: the AMZCHEF isn't a budget kitchen appliance.
It's an investment, and whether it's worth it really depends on how often you plan to use it.
If you're going to make juice once or twice and then leave the machine sitting in a cupboard, I probably wouldn't recommend spending the money.
But if you enjoy fresh juice and can see yourself using it regularly, it's a different story.
After three weeks, I've been impressed with the construction, ease of use and, above all, the quality of the juice.
I also like that preparing fresh juice has become something I look forward to rather than another job on my list.
Of course, buying fresh fruit regularly also comes at a cost, something worth considering if you have a large family.
But for us, the enjoyment and convenience of making our own juice have made the AMZCHEF a worthwhile addition to the kitchen.
Final Verdict: Would I Recommend the AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer?
Absolutely.
After three weeks, the AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer has earned its place in our kitchen.
It looks great, feels exceptionally well made and produces delicious, wonderfully smooth juice that the whole family enjoys.
Yes, cleaning the filter could be easier, and it's not the cheapest appliance around. But those are relatively small complaints compared with how much we've enjoyed using it.
More importantly, it's encouraged us to spend a little more time preparing something fresh rather than always choosing the quickest option.
If you enjoy fresh juice, have a busy family and appreciate the idea of slowing down a little, I think the AMZCHEF is a very worthwhile investment.
