This review is about the Manscaped Beard Hedger Plus, the newer version of the Beard Hedger, not the original Beard Hedger I reviewed last year.
I liked the original Beard Hedger. It felt premium, had a strong motor, and the adjustment wheel made it very easy to change trimming lengths. For my short beard, it worked well. But it also had two clear limitations: it only went up to 10mm, and the body felt quite chunky for everyday trimming.
That is where the Beard Hedger Plus makes sense.
After using it non-stop for a week, I can say this straight away: the Beard Hedger Plus feels like the more practical version for a lot of men. It is more compact, easier to handle, and more flexible if you want to trim beyond a very short beard.
The big difference is the trimming range. While the original Beard Hedger stops at 10mm, the Beard Hedger Plus gives you more length to work with, which makes it better suited to men with a slightly longer beard or a fuller style.
It does not necessarily replace the original Beard Hedger as the more premium-feeling option, but it does solve the two things that made the original less suitable for some men: size and maximum trimming length.

The original The Beard Hedger still feels like the more premium and refined choice, especially with its glossy finish and excellent adjustment wheel, but the Plus is a great-value option if you want something compact, flexible and easy to live with.

The Beard Hedger Plus is Manscaped’s upgraded electric beard trimmer, designed for trimming, shaping, edging and maintaining your beard.
The big change is versatility.
The original Beard Hedger was aimed mainly at shorter beard styles. The new Beard Hedger Plus gives you 14 comb settings from 1mm to 20mm, which makes it far more useful if you have a medium-length beard, or if you like to leave more length around the chin or jawline.
It also comes with USB-C charging, a travel lock, a stainless steel blade, a waterproof design and a battery level indicator.

How I Tested The Beard Hedger Plus
I have been using the Beard Hedger Plus every day for a week.
My beard is short, so I mainly used it on the 2mm setting. That is the kind of length where a trimmer needs to be accurate. If the cut is uneven, you notice it straight away. There is no long beard to hide the mistakes.
I also tested it without the comb for my neck line and cheek line, because that matters a lot in real life. A beard trimmer can be good at reducing length, but if it cannot tidy the edges properly, you still need another tool.
I also compared it directly with my experience of the original Beard Hedger, which I reviewed last year and genuinely enjoyed using.
The Beard Hedger Plus feels more compact, lighter and easier to handle than the original Beard Hedger.
Design: This Is Where Manscaped Got It Right
The first thing I noticed was the size.
The Beard Hedger Plus feels much better in the hand than the original Beard Hedger. It is more compact, a bit lighter, and definitely more ergonomic. It does not feel like a smaller product in a cheap way. It feels like Manscaped has refined the shape properly.
The original Beard Hedger had a premium look, but it was a bit chunky. The comb was also quite large, and although it worked well, it did not feel as nimble as I wanted around the moustache, jawline and neck.
The Beard Hedger Plus is easier to control.
That matters when you are trimming your beard at home, especially in front of a bathroom mirror. You want something that moves naturally around your face. You do not want to fight the tool or keep adjusting your hand position.
The Beard Hedger Plus feels more natural. It is easier to move around the chin, easier around the jawline, and generally more comfortable to use.
I also think it looks better. Manscaped products usually have a strong visual identity, but this one feels more mature and more polished. It still looks like a Manscaped product, but less bulky and more refined.
The New Slider Replaces The Wheel
The new Quick-Adjust Slider replaces the wheel from the original Beard Hedger and is very easy to use.
This is probably the change that existing Beard Hedger owners will notice first.
The original model used a wheel to adjust the length. I liked that wheel. Actually, I loved it. It felt clever and different, and it gave the trimmer a bit of personality.
The new Beard Hedger Plus uses a Quick-Adjust Slider instead.
At first, I thought I might miss the wheel. And in a way, I still do. It was one of the things that made the original Beard Hedger feel unique.
But I have to be honest: the new slider is extremely easy to use.
It is quick, clear, and practical. You just move the slider, choose your setting, and trim. There is no learning curve. It feels very natural from the first use.
The wheel was fun. The slider is probably better for quick everyday use.
Two Combs, More Length, Better Flexibility
This is the biggest improvement.
The original Beard Hedger only went up to 10mm. For me, that was not a major problem because I keep my beard short. But I know it was a limitation for a lot of men.
Not every man wants a short beard. Some like a fuller beard. Some want to keep length around the chin. Some want a more shaped but still natural look. For those men, 10mm was simply not enough.
The Beard Hedger Plus now goes up to 20mm, using two combs.
That changes the product completely.
It is no longer just a good trimmer for short beards. It is now a much more useful beard trimmer for a wider range of men.
The two combs are also very well designed. They feel sturdy, they attach securely, and they are very easy to swap. There is no annoying wobble or cheap feeling when the comb is attached.
That may sound like a small detail, but it matters. A weak comb can ruin the whole experience. If the comb moves, the trim becomes uneven. Here, everything feels solid and controlled.
Trimming Performance
This is where the Beard Hedger Plus impressed me most.
I used it mainly on the 2mm setting, and the result was actually neater than what I usually got with the original Beard Hedger.
That surprised me a little because I already liked the first version. But the Beard Hedger Plus gave me a cleaner, more even result. It felt easier to control, and because the body is more compact, I could guide it more precisely.
On most areas of my beard, it trimmed almost in one pass.
The only area where I had to go over more than once was the moustache. To be fair, that is very common with beard trimmers. The moustache area is always more awkward because of the shape, the direction of the hair, and the fact that you are working close to the nose and lip.
But overall, the trimming experience was excellent.
The motor feels powerful, but the trimmer is quite silent. I like that. Some trimmers sound aggressive without actually cutting better. This one feels controlled. It has enough power, but it does not feel harsh.
For daily or regular beard maintenance, it works very well.
Edging The Neck And Cheek Line
I also used the Beard Hedger Plus without the comb to tidy my neck line and cheek line.
This worked perfectly.
It is not a dedicated precision detailer, so I would not pretend it replaces every edging tool on the market. But for normal beard maintenance, it does the job very well.
The more compact design helps here too. It is easier to angle the trimmer and work around the shape of your face. I found it much easier than the original Beard Hedger for this type of work.
If you like to keep your beard neat without spending ages in front of the mirror, this is one of the strongest points of the Beard Hedger Plus.
Battery, USB-C Charging And Travel Lock
The battery level light is a useful upgrade and makes the Beard Hedger Plus feel more practical for daily use.
USB-C charging is a very welcome upgrade.
I know it sounds basic now, but it still matters. I do not want another random cable in my bathroom drawer. USB-C makes life easier, especially if you travel or already use USB-C for your phone, headphones, power bank or laptop.
The Beard Hedger Plus also has a battery level light, and I think this is a massive plus.
With grooming tools, I like knowing roughly where I stand. There is nothing more annoying than starting a trim and realising the battery is almost dead. The battery indicator makes the product feel more modern and more practical.
Manscaped says the Beard Hedger Plus offers up to 60 minutes of runtime, which is more than enough for normal beard trimming. A beard trim does not take long, especially if you maintain it regularly.
The travel lock is another useful feature. If you put this in a wash bag or suitcase, you do not want it switching on by mistake. It is a small feature, but a sensible one.

The Beard Hedger Plus is waterproof, and Manscaped says it is IPX7 rated.
I followed Manscaped’s official cleaning instructions and had no issues. Cleaning was easy, and I did not notice any annoying hair build-up during my week of use.
Personally, I still prefer trimming my beard dry. I find it easier to see the shape and control the result. But having a waterproof trimmer makes cleaning much simpler.
For me, that is the real benefit.
Trim dry. Clean easily. Put it away.
That is exactly how a modern beard trimmer should work.
The Beard Hedger Plus vs The Original Beard Hedger
The Beard Hedger Plus is noticeably more compact and easier to handle than the original Beard Hedger.
The original The Beard Hedger is still the premium choice in the Manscaped beard trimmer range.
And you can feel it.
It is bigger, heavier, and has that glossy finish that gives it a more premium look straight away. It feels more substantial in the hand, and the adjustment wheel is still an excellent touch. I loved that wheel when I reviewed the original model, and I still think it gives The Beard Hedger a more distinctive and satisfying trimming experience.
The Beard Hedger Plus feels different.
It is more compact, lighter, and easier to move around the face. For my own routine, that works extremely well. I keep my beard short, usually around the 2mm setting, and I mainly want something simple, precise and easy for regular maintenance. For that kind of use, the Beard Hedger Plus is totally fine. In fact, it is probably the one I would reach for more often because it feels easier to handle.
The big advantage of the Plus is flexibility. The original The Beard Hedger goes up to 10mm, while the Beard Hedger Plus goes up to 20mm with two combs. That makes the Plus more suitable if you want more length options or if your beard is a little longer.
So I would not say the Beard Hedger Plus replaces the original.
I would look at them like this: The Beard Hedger is the premium model. The Beard Hedger Plus is the more compact and practical everyday option.
For me, with short stubble and simple beard maintenance, the Plus makes a lot of sense. But if you want the more premium Manscaped beard trimming experience, especially with that excellent wheel and glossy finish, the original The Beard Hedger is still the one to look at.
What I Like

What Might Not Be For You
If you already own the original Beard Hedger and only use it for a very short beard, you may not need to rush and upgrade immediately.
The original is still a good trimmer.
Also, if you loved the adjustment wheel as much as I did, you may miss it a little. The new slider is very good, but the wheel had a charm of its own.
And finally, this is still a premium beard trimmer. You can find cheaper trimmers, of course. But the Beard Hedger Plus feels better designed than many basic options, and that is where the value is.

Should You Buy The Manscaped Beard Hedger Plus?
If you are looking for an everyday beard trimmer that is easy to use, well built, and suitable for both short and slightly longer beards, the Manscaped Beard Hedger Plus is very easy to recommend.
For me, it fixes the two main issues of the original Beard Hedger.
It is no longer limited to 10mm. It feels more ergonomic, more refined, and more useful for more men.
I used it at 2mm, and the result was neat, clean and better than I expected. The only area that needed a little extra work was the moustache, but that is normal with most beard trimmers.
The Beard Hedger Plus feels like a proper upgrade, not just a slightly refreshed version.
And that is why I like it so much.
Final Verdict
After using The Beard Hedger Plus for a week, I really like what Manscaped has done here.
For my own beard routine, it works extremely well. I keep my beard short, usually around the 2mm setting, and I want something that is easy to use, quick to control and comfortable around the face. For that kind of short stubble maintenance, The Beard Hedger Plus is more than good enough.
It is compact, practical, easy to handle, and the new 20mm maximum length gives it more flexibility than the original The Beard Hedger. USB-C charging, the battery light and the travel lock also make it feel very convenient for everyday use.
But if you want the more premium and refined Manscaped beard trimming experience, I still think the original The Beard Hedger is the one to choose. It is bigger, heavier, glossier, and the adjustment wheel gives it that more expensive, satisfying feel.
