I’ve been reviewing Edifier speakers for a couple of years now, and every time they announce something new, I pay attention. Not because it’s hype-driven, but because Edifier has built a reputation for doing one thing consistently well: delivering sound that makes sense in real life.
At CES 2026, Edifier officially unveiled the M90, a new compact speaker system designed for modern desks, creative setups, and everyday listening. And while this is very much a press announcement at this stage, I think it’s worth talking about, especially coming from someone who actually lives with Edifier speakers day to day.
Why the M90 Caught My Attention
What I like about Edifier as a brand is that they don’t chase trends blindly. Over the years, I’ve tested several of their speakers ( from compact desktop models to more powerful bookshelf setups ) and the sound signature is always familiar. Clean, balanced, slightly warm, and easy to enjoy for long listening sessions.
The M90 feels like a natural evolution of that philosophy. From what’s been announced, this speaker is clearly aimed at people who:
Work from a desk all day
Care about sound quality without wanting a bulky setup
Want something that looks clean and modern without screaming “gaming speaker”
In other words, very much my audience.
A Design That Fits Real Spaces
One thing Edifier usually gets right is design, and the M90 looks like it follows the same path. Compact, understated, and minimal. This isn’t a speaker meant to dominate your desk , it’s designed to blend in, whether you’re using it next to a laptop, a monitor, or even a turntable setup in a smaller space.
I’ve always appreciated that Edifier speakers look like adult tech. No unnecessary RGB, no aggressive angles. Just clean lines and sensible proportions.
Not everyone wants huge speakers. Not everyone needs room-filling sound. What most people actually want is good, reliable audio that fits into their daily routine, working, relaxing, watching content, listening to music in the background. The M90 includes HDMI eARC support alongside optical, USB-C, AUX, and Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC.
That’s where speakers like the M90 make sense. If Edifier sticks to what they do best — and historically, they usually do, this could be another very solid option for anyone looking to upgrade their desk audio without overthinking it.
Final Thoughts (For Now)
The M90 is still fresh out of CES 2026, and this is very much a first look rather than a full review. But based on my experience with Edifier over the past few years, this is a launch worth paying attention to.
As soon as I get the chance to test the M90 properly, I’ll do what I always do: use it in real conditions, on my desk, over time, and share an honest, experience-based opinion.
