Manspot Body Hair Trimmer Review: I Tested It on Groin, Balls, Chest and Body Hair

Jerome from Dapper & Groomed holding the black Manspot Body Hair Trimmer in a home setting for a hands-on review.

Testing the claims: I spent a month putting the Manspot trimmer through its paces to see if it’s as safe as the marketing suggests.

Disclosure: Manspot sent me this Body Hair Trimmer for review purposes. However, my advice is never for sale. This review is based on my own 30-day + testing experience, my 13 years as a professional reviewer, and my pharmacy-sector background. Let’s be honest. When men search for a groin hair trimmer or ball trimmer, they are usually asking one very simple question: Can I use this thing down there without cutting myself?

That was my question too.

Before becoming a full-time blogger, I worked as a healthcare assistant in pharmacy. During that time, I saw plenty of men dealing with the less glamorous side of shaving and body grooming: irritated skin, ingrown hairs, shaving rash, and the kind of small wounds that can become a real problem if they get infected.

So when I test a trimmer designed for the groin area, I do not just look at the packaging or the battery life. I think about safety. I think about control. I think about whether the blade feels too aggressive around loose skin. I think about whether a man could realistically use it around his balls, the base of his penis, and his pubic area without feeling nervous every two seconds.

Pharmacy Tip: Shaving Rash vs. Infection

Having worked in pharmacy, I’ve seen many men treat "shaving rash" as a minor annoyance. In reality, the groin is a high-bacteria area where small nicks can quickly lead to irritation or worse.

Jerome’s Advice: If you get a nick, keep it clean. Use a simple, non-fragranced antiseptic cream. The Manspot’s ceramic blade lowers the risk, but keeping the blade clean with 70% alcohol is your best defense.

I tested the Manspot Body Hair Trimmer on the areas that matter: around my balls, the base of my penis, my pubic area, my chest, and even for a quick beard tidy-up. Here is my honest experience.

Quick Verdict — Tested by Jerome

The Manspot Body Hair Trimmer is one of the better value body groomers I have tested for men who want to keep their grooming under control without spending too much money. Even in 2026, with many high-end trimmers pushing the $100 mark, the Manspot stays in the affordable bracket (often around $30-$49), making it a fantastic entry point.

Its biggest strength is that it feels easy to control in sensitive areas, where confidence matters more than fancy branding. I used it around my balls, the base of my penis, my pubic area, my chest and around my bum hole. So far, I have had no nicks or cuts with it.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Men who want a simple, effective groomer for the groin and balls.

  • Men who are nervous about trimming "down there" and want a controlled blade.

  • Budget-conscious groomers who don't want to pay for "premium" marketing.

First Impressions: Better Than I Expected For The Price

Manspot does a good job with the details. The trimmer arrives in a sleek black box that doesn't feel cheap. I tested the matte black version; the finish feels soft and smooth in the hand, which is vital for grip. When you are trimming around your balls, a slippery or awkward trimmer is the last thing you want.

The Real Test: Is It Safe Around The Balls?

This is the section that matters most.

A lot of men are not worried about whether a trimmer looks good in a bathroom cabinet. They are worried about whether it will catch the skin around their balls.

The skin around the groin is not like the skin on your chest or arms. It is softer, looser, more sensitive, and less forgiving if you rush. This is exactly where cheap or badly designed trimmers can become a problem.

I tested the Manspot carefully around my balls, the base of my penis and the pubic area. I did not rush it, and I would strongly recommend you do the same.

My experience has been very positive.

So far, I have had no nicks or cuts with the Manspot. Around the balls, it felt controlled rather than scary. That does not mean you can be careless. No trimmer gives you permission to attack the area like you are mowing a lawn on a Saturday morning.

You still need to stretch the skin, use light pressure, and take your time.

But the Manspot gave me confidence. The ceramic blade did not feel too aggressive, and the trimmer was easy enough to guide around awkward areas. That is exactly what I want from a ball trimmer.

For men who are nervous, I would start with one of the guide combs first. Get used to the feeling, trim gradually, and only go closer when you feel confident.

The Comparison: Manspot vs. Premium Brands

I often work with and use premium trimmers like the Manscaped Lawn Mower 5.0. Those devices are the "luxury cars" of grooming—offering high-end features like wireless charging, travel locks, and sophisticated LED lighting.

The Perspective: If you value those premium bells and whistles, the investment in a top-tier brand is worth it. But if you are on a budget and just need a reliable, safe tool that handles the basics of groin grooming effectively, the Manspot offers impressive performance for a fraction of the cost.

Can You Get Completely Smooth Balls?

This depends on what you mean by smooth.

Personally, I like my balls to feel completely smooth. I prefer the look, I feel more confident that way, and I also think it can add extra pleasure during sex. That may be too much information for some people, but let’s be honest. If you are reading a review of a ball trimmer, you probably want the real answer.

With the Manspot, you can get very close. Close enough that most men will probably be happy with the result, especially if they want a clean, tidy, comfortable trim without the higher risk of using a razor straight away.

But will it give you the same perfectly smooth finish as a wet razor?

Not quite.

Most electric groin trimmers are designed to reduce risk and make trimming safer around sensitive skin. A razor will always give you that final ultra-smooth feel, but it also brings more risk of irritation, small cuts, razor bumps and ingrown hairs.

My advice is simple. Use the Manspot first to get the hair as short as possible. Then, if you want that last little bit of smoothness, carefully finish with a razor.

The Manspot does the main work. The razor does the final polish.

Features That Actually Matter

  • Ceramic Blades: These feel less aggressive around sensitive skin.

  • Waterproof Design: Crucial for hygiene. You want to be able to rinse this head thoroughly.

  • 90-Minute Battery: More than enough for a full grooming session.USB C Charging.

Pharmacy Tip: Hygiene is Key

Because the Manspot features a waterproof ceramic blade, it’s easy to assume a quick rinse under the tap is enough. However, water alone doesn't kill bacteria.

The Routine: I recommend a quick spray with a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution after every few uses. It’s the best way to ensure you aren't moving bacteria around sensitive skin next time you groom.

How It Performed On My Chest And Body Hair

A close-up of Jerome using the Manspot trimmer to groom underarm hair, demonstrating the blade's maneuverability and skin safety.

Beyond the groin: The Manspot is surprisingly versatile for chest and underarm grooming, providing a clean trim without pulling or irritation

The Manspot is marketed heavily as a groin trimmer, but I do not think it should be limited to that.

I also tested it on my chest, armpits, and it worked well.

Chest hair is easier territory than the groin, of course. The skin is flatter, the area is more visible, and you can move faster. But a good body trimmer still needs to cut cleanly without pulling or feeling rough.

The Manspot handled my chest/armpits hair without much fuss. It was easy to move across the skin, and the result looked neat.

This is where the trimmer becomes more useful. If it only worked on the groin, I would still like it, but it would feel more limited. The fact that I can use it on my chest, stomach, armpits and pubic area makes it better value.

How I Use The Manspot Around The Groin, Balls And Pubic Area

For me, keeping the pubic area trimmed is part of normal grooming. The same way I care about my beard, skincare, fragrance, clothes and body hair, I care about keeping things tidy down there.

It is not about trying to look like someone else. It is not about insecurity. It is about comfort, hygiene, confidence and feeling better in your own body.

Shorter pubic hair can help reduce sweating. It can make the area feel fresher, especially in summer or after exercise. It can reduce that heavy, uncomfortable feeling you get when body hair is too long. It can also make intimacy feel cleaner and more considerate.

And yes, I also use it around my bum hole.

I know that is not the most elegant sentence I have ever written, but it is honest. I hate having hair down there. It feels uncomfortable, it does not feel clean to me, and it is one of those areas where a good body trimmer can make a real difference.

The Manspot worked really well for that area. Again, the key is to go slowly. You need control, patience and common sense. This is not an area where you rush.

Around the balls and pubic area, I prefer to trim when the skin is clean and dry because I can see better and control the trimmer more easily. Some men prefer using a waterproof trimmer in the shower, and that is fine, but dry trimming usually gives me a better view of what I am doing.

Around the balls, I use one hand to gently stretch the skin and the other to guide the trimmer slowly. I avoid pressing hard. I let the blade do the work.

If you are new to trimming your balls or pubic area, use a guard first. It may not give you the closest finish, but it helps you build confidence.

After trimming, I rinse and clean the trimmer properly. I also avoid applying heavily fragranced products directly around freshly trimmed skin. The skin can be more sensitive afterwards, and the last thing you want is irritation because you decided to turn your groin into a fragrance counter.

Clean skin. Careful trimming. Proper cleaning.

That is the routine.

What Could Be Better

The Manspot is not perfect.

It does not feel as premium as some more expensive grooming devices. That is not a shock, considering the price, but it is still worth saying.

It is also not a true replacement for a wet razor if your goal is a completely smooth finish. You can trim close, but if you are expecting razor-level smoothness from the trimmer alone, you may be disappointed.

Final Verdict: Is The Manspot Body Hair Trimmer Worth It?

Yes, I think the Manspot Body Hair Trimmer is worth it.

Not because it is the most premium grooming tool I have ever tested. It is not. Not because it has the biggest brand name. It doesn’t.

I like it because it does the job that matters.

It trims the groin, balls and pubic area without making the process feel stressful. It worked well on my chest. It felt easy to hold, simple to use and practical to clean. Most importantly, I did not nick or cut myself during my testing.

For a trimmer designed to be used around one of the most sensitive areas of the male body, that matters more than almost anything else.

Would I call it a good ball trimmer? Yes.

Would I call it a useful body hair trimmer? Also yes.

Would I recommend it to men who want a neat, clean, comfortable trim without paying premium prices? Yes, I would.

The Manspot is not perfect, but it is honest. It is practical, affordable and surprisingly effective.

And when the blade is getting close to your balls, practical and effective is exactly what you want.
