I am a big fan of earbuds and headphones. I use them all the time, whether I am walking my dog Marlow, working at my desk, listening to music, watching videos, or testing new products for the blog.

And lately, I have become genuinely fascinated by the comeback of wired earbuds.

For years, we were told Bluetooth was the future. No cables. No mess. No old-school headphone jack. Just small earbuds in a charging case, ready to connect to your phone in a few seconds.

And to be fair, wireless earbuds are brilliant. I use them daily.

But something interesting has happened.

A lot of people are starting to realise that wired earbuds still make a lot of sense. They do not need charging. They are simple. They often have very low latency. And when they are well made, they can sound genuinely excellent for the money.

There is also something about wired earbuds that feels more connected to simple living. You plug them in, press play, and that is it. No battery anxiety. No app. No Bluetooth dropouts. No wondering if one earbud has less charge than the other.

That is why the new SIVGA M260 HiFi Wired Earbuds caught my attention.

SIVGA has introduced the M260 as a retro-inspired pair of wired earbuds designed for music lovers, commuters, gamers, and anyone who still enjoys the simplicity of wired audio.

This is not my full review. I have not tested them personally at the time of writing. But as a new product launch, the M260 looks interesting, especially if you like the idea of classic wired earbuds with a more modern HiFi approach.

A Retro Design That Feels Right for 2026

The first thing to notice with the SIVGA M260 is the design.

These are not trying to look like every other modern pair of earbuds. They have a clear retro influence, with a classic open-style earbud shape and a metallic finish that gives them a more distinctive look.

There is something quite refreshing about that.

Many earbuds today look almost identical. Black plastic case. Silicone tips. Touch controls. Same shape, same feeling, same routine. The M260 goes in a slightly different direction, and I like that.

The design reminds me of the older portable-audio days, when earbuds came with cassette players, CD players, and early MP3 players. But this does not feel like nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia. It feels more like SIVGA has taken that older shape and tried to make it more serious, more durable, and more suited to modern listening.

Another point worth mentioning is comfort.

Not everyone enjoys deep in-ear earbuds. Some men find silicone ear tips uncomfortable after a while. Others dislike the sealed feeling. An open-style wired earbud can be easier to wear for longer sessions, especially if you are listening at your desk, walking around the house, or using them for calls and casual music.

Of course, open-style earbuds will not isolate sound like in-ear monitors. That is part of the compromise. But for many people, that lighter and more natural feel is exactly the appeal.

14.2mm Dynamic Driver

Inside the SIVGA M260 is a 14.2mm dynamic driver with a copper-ring composite bio-diaphragm.

On paper, that is promising.

A larger dynamic driver can help give earbuds a fuller and more open sound, although driver size alone never tells the full story. The tuning matters. The housing matters. The fit in your ear matters. With this type of earbud, even a small change in position can affect the bass and overall sound.

SIVGA is positioning the M260 as a HiFi-style wired earbud rather than a basic pair of cheap wired earphones. The brand mentions clarity, reduced distortion, an expansive soundstage, and a balanced sound signature.

That is the part I would be most interested in testing.

I personally prefer earbuds and headphones that are easy to live with. I do not want sound that is too sharp, too thin, or artificially exciting for the first five minutes but tiring after half an hour. If the M260 manages to deliver a smooth, natural, balanced sound at this price, that could make them a very interesting option.

Designed for Music, Gaming and Everyday Use

One of the reasons wired earbuds are becoming interesting again is gaming.

Bluetooth earbuds are convenient, but latency can still be an issue, depending on the device, the codec, and the game. For music, it may not matter much. For gaming, watching videos, or editing content, delay can be annoying.

A wired connection keeps things simple.

The SIVGA M260 is designed for music, podcasts, gaming, video calls and general daily use. It has a frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz, 118dB sensitivity, and 16Ω impedance, which means it should be easy to drive from phones, laptops, computers, tablets, handheld gaming devices, and portable music players.

That is important.

A good affordable wired earbud should not need a complicated setup. You should be able to plug it in and enjoy your music. That is part of the appeal.

Detachable MMCX Cable

One of the most interesting features of the SIVGA M260 is the detachable MMCX cable.

This is not something you always see at this price.

The cable is often the first part of wired earbuds to fail. It gets twisted, pulled, bent, or damaged after months of use. With many cheaper wired earbuds, once the cable fails, the whole product is finished.

A detachable cable gives the M260 more long-term value.

It also gives users a bit more flexibility. Some people may want to replace the cable later. Others may prefer a different connection style or cable length. It is a small detail, but it makes the product feel more serious.

SIVGA includes a 4N silver-plated OFC cable, which is designed for clean signal transmission and better durability.

Again, this is the kind of feature that makes the M260 feel more like a proper audio product than a cheap pair of backup earbuds.

3.5mm or USB-C Version

The SIVGA M260 will be available in two versions: a 3.5mm version and a USB-C version.

The 3.5mm version will make sense for laptops, desktop computers, DACs, older phones, handheld gaming devices, portable players, and anyone who still uses a standard headphone jack.

The USB-C version may be the more practical choice for many modern users.

A lot of phones no longer have a headphone jack, so USB-C wired earbuds are becoming useful again. The M260 USB-C version includes an integrated Realtek ALC5686 DAC, with support for up to 32-bit/384kHz Hi-Res audio. It also includes a microphone and multi-function controls for calls, music playback, and volume.

That makes the USB-C model feel more modern.

It could be a good option for someone who wants one simple pair of wired earbuds for their phone, laptop, work calls, music, and gaming, without needing to carry a separate adapter.

That puts the M260 in a very interesting position.

It is affordable enough to be an everyday purchase, but the design and feature set make it feel more considered than basic wired earbuds. The detachable cable, retro-inspired design, large dynamic driver, and USB-C DAC option all help it stand out.

Of the two versions, I think the USB-C model will probably appeal to the widest audience, simply because so many phones have moved away from the headphone jack.

But if you already use a DAC, laptop, desktop setup, or older device with a 3.5mm connection, the standard version also makes a lot of sense.

My Early Thoughts

I like the idea behind the SIVGA M260.

Wired earbuds will not replace wireless earbuds for everyone. If you want active noise cancelling, full gym freedom, wireless charging, transparency mode, or app-based controls, Bluetooth earbuds are still the obvious choice.

But wired earbuds do not need to compete with wireless earbuds in every area.

They offer something different.

They are simple. They are direct. They do not need charging. They can be very good value. And when designed properly, they can sound excellent for the price.

The SIVGA M260 seems to understand that.

The retro design gives them character. The detachable MMCX cable adds practical value. The 14.2mm dynamic driver sounds promising on paper. And the USB-C version with built-in DAC makes them relevant for modern phones and laptops.

The real test, of course, will be the sound quality.

Comfort, bass response, vocal clarity, cable noise, and long-session listening will matter far more than the spec sheet. That is always the case with earbuds and headphones. You can read the numbers, but you only really understand a product once you have lived with it.

Still, as a new product launch, the SIVGA M260 looks like one to watch.

And personally, I like seeing wired earbuds being treated seriously again. Not as a forgotten accessory from the past, but as a simple, practical and enjoyable way to listen to music in 2026.
