Edifier Turns 30: Why This Audio Brand Matters to Me
There are some brands you review because they are popular. Others because they send products. And then there are a few rare brands that somehow become part of your story as a content creator. For me, Edifier has quietly become one of those brands.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Edifier, and honestly, it feels deserved. In a world where so many technology brands chase trends, launch forgettable products, or disappear after two years, Edifier has managed to build something much rarer: identity. When I see an Edifier speaker or pair of earbuds now, I instantly recognise the design language. The brand knows what it is. Warm sound. Stylish products. Honest pricing. And perhaps most importantly, products made for real people who genuinely enjoy listening to music.
Over the past few years, I have reviewed a surprising number of Edifier products on Dapper & Groomed. From the retro-inspired MP230 speaker to the beautiful D32, the ES series, the NeoBuds, and even the STAX range, there has always been something very consistent with Edifier: they care about the experience. The packaging feels thoughtful. The setup is usually simple. The products often look far more expensive than they actually are. But above all, they sound good in real life, not just on paper.
As someone who spends a lot of time working from home, listening to music while writing, editing videos, or simply walking my dog Marlow with earbuds in, audio has become a huge part of my everyday life. And strangely enough, reviewing audio products changed the direction of the blog more than I expected. What started mainly as a grooming and skincare platform slowly opened itself to technology, lifestyle, and modern living. Edifier played a big role in that transition.
I still remember the excitement of receiving some of those early review units. There is something motivating about working with a brand that trusts your voice and allows you to be honest.
I also want to mention the incredible team at Bleat PR, who represent Edifier in the UK, and especially Kathryn, the boss. She has been fantastic to work with. Professional, friendly, approachable, and always genuinely supportive of what I do with Dapper & Groomed. In this industry, those relationships matter more than people realise. Good communication, trust, and a proper human connection make a huge difference, especially for independent creators like myself.
Thirty years is a long time in technology. Most brands do not survive that long. The fact that Edifier continues to evolve while keeping its personality intact says a lot about the company.
So congratulations to Edifier on 30 years. Thank you for the music, the collaborations, the inspiration, and for being one of the brands that helped shape this chapter of Dapper & Groomed. Sometimes products are just products. But occasionally, they become part of a much bigger journey.
