As you know I am a big fan of chinos, and I have spent a lot of money trying to find the best fitted chinos. I have bought from brands such as GAP, Fat Face, White Stuff, Joules, Next, La Redoute, Zara but I have never found the perfect one.

So what is, in my opinion, a perfect pair of chinos? Slim fit, soft and comfy fabric, perfect cut that is not baggy on your backside. And this last point is really important to me. As most chinos have a bit of stretch nowadays, the part where it looks the most baggy and out of shape is always the bum, and for me this doesn’t look great.

So the other day I received an email from La Redoute with their Spring sales and I decided to buy 2 pairs of chinos from Jack & Jones. Well, I loved them so much that I recently purchased two more pairs. So here are the reasons why I think the Jack & Jones Slim Fit Chinos are simply the best chinos for men over 40!

1/quality of fabric

This is always very important and it’s always difficult to find a fabric not too heavy or too light. I personally find GAP and Fat Face chinos to be too thick and it makes them a little bit too casual. The chinos from Jack & Jones feel perfect with the added elastane to give a little bit of stretch. Thanks to the perfect choice of cotton, each Chino looks a little bit smarter.

2/perfect fit

This is probably the best Slim Fit Chinos cut I have ever purchased. It is very slim on the leg but not too skinny and it looks great on the bum too. The red stitching contrast is perfect for the “turn up” style. Honestly they look and feel great!

3/ great choice of colours

My wardrobe is slightly changing and I am choosing a more minimalist and timeless look with bold colours. I think that the colours available are perfect for the timeless minimalist look that I want to achieve. I bought the navy, black, khaki green and the beige (which is more on the darker side but still so stylish). These four colours are really elegant, perfect to wear with smart trainers like my ones from Pepe Jeans or with classic white trainers like my favourites from Puma. The Khaki Green is also a great choice to wear with boots!

4/ affordable price

At £30.00 (now 15% off on La Redoute), I think that you get amazing value for money. I realise that you don’t need to spend a lot to get the perfect chinos and Jack & Jones Marco Slim Fit Chinos are the perfect proof!

Final thoughts

When you are over 40, it can be a bit more complicated to buy trousers because we want to be trendy but can’t always follow the trends that are more suitable for guys in their 20’s. That’s why I think chinos are always a safe bet for a smart casual and timeless look. And as the title of this post says: The Marco Slim Fit Chinos from Jack & Jones are simply the best chinos you can get. Here are more pictures on how to style them, and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for more styles ideas.
