KraftGeek sent me the JustTap Magnetic Phone Tripod for review purposes, and I’ll be honest: when it first arrived, I did not fully realise how much I would end up using it.
I test quite a few tech products for Dapper & Groomed, my YouTube channel and Instagram. Some products are interesting for a week. Some are useful for a specific review. And then, occasionally, a product quietly becomes part of your daily setup.
That is what happened with the KraftGeek JustTap Magnetic Phone Tripod.
I have now been using it every day for around a month, mainly to film YouTube videos and Instagram reels with my iPhone 15 Plus. And I do not say this lightly: it has become one of the most useful tech products I have received for review.
Not because it is complicated. Not because it is trying to be clever for the sake of it. But because it solves a very real problem for people like me who create content with a phone.
I film in a fairly normal space. I do not have a huge studio. I film product reviews, close-up shots, desk shots, reels, short videos and talking sections. I often need to move quickly between different angles. And before using this tripod, that process could be a little annoying.
The KraftGeek JustTap Magnetic Tripod changed that.
It is quick to open, easy to move around, strong enough to hold my iPhone securely, and flexible enough to use in different filming situations. After a month, I no longer see it as a tripod I am testing. I see it as part of my daily content creation kit.
Quick specs
The KraftGeek JustTap Magnetic Phone Tripod is a MagSafe-compatible phone tripod made from aluminium alloy, ABS and PC, using strong N52-grade magnets to hold compatible phones securely. It extends from 33cm when folded to a maximum height of 168cm, weighs 455g, and has a wider tripod base with 28cm legs for better stability. It also includes a detachable magnetic Bluetooth remote, USB-C charging, 180° tilt, 360° phone rotation, and support for non-MagSafe phones using the included metal ring.
Why I needed a better phone tripod
If you only take the occasional photo, a tripod may not feel like an essential accessory. But when you create content regularly, especially with a phone, a good tripod quickly becomes one of those tools you use far more than expected.
I film a lot of product content. Sometimes it is a YouTube review. Sometimes it is a quick Instagram reel. Sometimes I need to record a short video for Amazon or social media. And most of the time, I am filming alone.
That means the tripod has to do a lot of work.
It has to hold the phone securely. It has to be quick to set up. It has to be easy to adjust. It has to move from portrait to landscape without drama. And, very importantly for me, it has to work in a smaller filming space.
The place where I film is not huge. I need to be practical. I cannot have a large professional filming setup permanently in the room. So when a tripod can be compact, portable, stable and flexible at the same time, it immediately becomes useful.
This is where the KraftGeek JustTap started to make sense very quickly.
The moment this tripod proved its worth
The moment I really understood how useful this tripod was came while filming my review video for the Status Audio Pro X earbuds.
For that video, I needed more than one basic angle. I wanted to film close-ups of the earbuds, wider shots, desk shots, and a few different angles to make the video feel more dynamic. When you film in a small space, this can become frustrating very quickly.
You move the tripod. You adjust the height. You try to get the phone level. You change from landscape to portrait. You tighten the clamp. You realise the shot is not quite right. You start again.
That is the kind of thing that slowly kills your motivation when filming alone.
With the KraftGeek JustTap, the process felt much easier. I could move it around quickly, extend it, change the angle, rotate my iPhone 15 Plus, and attach the phone magnetically in seconds. There was no traditional phone clamp to fight with. No awkward pressure on the side buttons. No feeling that I had to rebuild my setup every time I changed the shot.
That may sound like a small detail, but when you are filming content regularly, small details matter.
This tripod genuinely saved me a lot of time during that video. It made my filming process smoother, and in a small space, that flexibility is a big deal.
The MagSafe connection is the best feature
For me, the magnetic attachment is the main reason this tripod works so well.
I use an iPhone 15 Plus, and the MagSafe connection feels incredibly strong. I was genuinely impressed by how secure it felt from the first day. You place the phone on the magnetic mount, it snaps into position, and it feels ready to use.
There is no fiddling with a clamp. No adjusting little arms around the phone. No worrying about whether the phone is properly centred. It just works.
That changes the experience more than I expected.
When I am filming YouTube videos or Instagram reels, speed matters. I do not want to spend five minutes setting up a phone shot. I want to put the phone in place, check the framing, and start recording.
The MagSafe connector is one of the standout features of the KraftGeek JustTap, making it quick and easy to attach an iPhone for filming.
The KraftGeek tripod makes that process feel much cleaner.
It also makes switching between portrait and landscape very easy. For YouTube, I often need landscape. For Instagram reels, I need portrait. With a normal tripod clamp, that can feel more annoying than it should. Here, the rotation is smooth and simple.
If you use a MagSafe iPhone, this is where the product really shines.
The tap-to-open system is clever
The JustTap name comes from the tap-to-open design. You press the base, and the tripod legs open automatically.
I like it. It feels clever, useful and different from a standard tripod. It is not just a party trick either. When you are setting up quickly to film, it does save time.
However, I do want to be honest here: you need to be a little careful with your fingers.
Because the legs open quickly, I can see how someone could accidentally get their fingers caught if they are not paying attention. It has not been a serious issue for me, but it is worth mentioning because this is exactly the kind of real-world detail you only notice when using a product every day.
So yes, I like the tap-to-open system. I think it is smart. I think it makes the tripod faster to use. But I would not treat it like a toy. Press it properly, keep your fingers clear, and it works well.
Build quality and design
The build quality is one of the strongest parts of this tripod.
It feels premium. It does not feel like one of those cheap phone tripods you buy because you need something quickly and then regret later. The materials feel solid, the design is clean, and the whole thing has a reassuring weight to it.
At 455g, it is not ultra-light, but I actually think that helps. A tripod like this needs a bit of weight, especially when holding a large phone like the iPhone 15 Plus.
The design is also nicely judged. It looks modern without being too flashy. It feels like a proper content creation tool rather than a random phone accessory.
That matters to me because I use this daily. I leave it around my filming space. I move it from room to room. I use it for quick shots. I use it for longer filming sessions. If a product is going to stay in my workspace, I want it to feel well made.
This one does.
Stability: better than I expected
The wider tripod base and built-in magnetic remote help make the KraftGeek JustTap feel stable and practical for everyday phone filming.
The KraftGeek JustTap tripod is very stable for normal content creation.
Indoors, it works extremely well. This is where I have used it the most, and I have had no real concerns about stability. Fully extended, it still feels reliable, and the wider base helps.
Outside, it is also fine in normal conditions. Because the tripod has a bit of weight to it, it does not feel flimsy. I would happily use it outdoors for reels, photos, quick video clips or casual filming.
That said, I have not tested it in heavy wind, so I cannot comment on how it would behave in those conditions. I would not pretend otherwise. Any tall phone tripod can become vulnerable if the weather is rough, especially with a larger phone attached.
For my use, though — indoor filming, desk shots, YouTube videos, Instagram reels, and normal outdoor use — stability has been very good.
Angle adjustment and flexibility
The adjustable hinge makes it easy to change filming angles quickly, which is one of the reasons I found the KraftGeek JustTap so useful for content creation.
This is another area where the tripod really helps.
The head allows you to tilt and rotate the phone, which makes it much easier to get the shot you want. For content creation, this is essential.
Sometimes I need a straight talking-head shot. Sometimes I need a close-up of a product on my desk. Sometimes I need the phone slightly above the product. Sometimes I need a quick vertical shot for Instagram.
The KraftGeek tripod makes those changes simple.
That flexibility is one of the reasons I now use it every day. It adapts to the way I film instead of making me adapt to the tripod.
And when you are working in a smaller space, that matters even more. You do not always have room to move everything around. Sometimes you need the tripod to do the work for you.
The remote control: useful, but not essential for me
The tripod comes with a Bluetooth remote control, which can be useful if you want to take photos or start recording from a distance.
Personally, I have not really used it.
For the way I create content, I do not need the remote very often. I usually start recording directly from the phone, or I am close enough to the phone that it is not a major issue.
So for me, the remote is more of a bonus feature than a key selling point.
That does not mean it is pointless. I can see it being useful for group photos, solo photos, travel content, family shots, or creators who want to stand further away from the phone. But in my daily YouTube and Instagram workflow, it is not the feature that makes the product special.
The tripod itself is the reason I like it.
What I love most
The best thing about the KraftGeek JustTap Magnetic Tripod is how easily it fits into real content creation.
It is not trying to replace professional camera gear. It is not pretending to be something it is not. It is simply a very good phone tripod that makes filming easier.
I love the magnetic attachment. I love how quickly I can set it up. I love the build quality. I love the stability. I love the angle adjustment. And I love the fact that I can use it in a small space without feeling restricted.
It has made filming feel less annoying.
That may not sound dramatic, but for creators, it is important. When your setup is easier, you film more. When you film more, you improve. And when a product removes friction from your process, it becomes valuable very quickly.
What I would improve
There is not much I would change, but there are a couple of things worth mentioning.
First, as I said earlier, the tap-to-open system is clever, but you need to watch your fingers. It opens quickly, and I would like people to be aware of that.
Second, the remote control is not something I personally use much. It is nice to have, but for my own workflow, it is not essential.
Third, while the tripod is portable, it is not the lightest option you can buy. But to be fair, I would rather have that extra weight if it means better stability and a more premium feel.
So these are not major complaints. They are more real-world observations after using it daily.
The KraftGeek JustTap folds down neatly and pairs perfectly with my iPhone 15 Plus, making it a practical setup for everyday filming and content creation.
Who is the KraftGeek JustTap Magnetic Tripod for?
I think this tripod makes the most sense for people who regularly create content with a phone.
It is ideal for YouTubers, Instagram creators, TikTok creators, bloggers, Amazon reviewers, product reviewers, and anyone who films videos at home. It is especially useful if you film alone and need to move quickly between different shots.
If you use an iPhone with MagSafe, it becomes even more useful. The magnetic connection is one of the biggest reasons I enjoy using it.
It is also a good option for people who do not have a big filming space. That is one of the things I appreciate most. I do not have a large studio, and this tripod gives me more flexibility without taking over the room.
If you only need a tripod once every few months, you may not get the full value from it. But if you film regularly, I think you will understand its usefulness very quickly.
