Particle Face Cream vs Brickell 6-in-1 Gel: Which Is Better for Men Over 40?
If you’re a man over 40 looking for one face product that can do a bit of everything, both Particle Face Cream and Brickell 6-in-1 Gel Face Moisturizer are going to catch your attention.
They’re both designed for men who want to keep skincare simple. Both moisturise, both target visible signs of ageing, both can be used after shaving, and both are meant to reduce the need for a complicated routine.
But after using both for more than a month, I don’t think they feel the same at all.
The Particle Face Cream is the richer and more nourishing of the two. It feels more like a traditional moisturiser and works particularly well when my skin needs extra hydration.
The Brickell 6-in-1 Gel, on the other hand, feels lighter, fresher and faster. It absorbs almost immediately and gives me a subtle tightening sensation that I really like.
So which one is better?
For me, it depends mainly on your skin type and the texture you prefer.
| Category | Particle Face Cream | Brickell 6-in-1 Gel |
|---|---|---|
| Texture | Richer cream | Lightweight gel |
| Absorption | Takes slightly longer | Very fast |
| Hydration | More nourishing | Light but effective |
| Immediate Feel | Soft and moisturised | Fresh with a subtle tightening feel |
| Post-Shave | Very comfortable | Very comfortable |
| Best For | Drier or mature skin | Normal, combination or men who dislike heavy creams |
| My Preference Today | Excellent, but a little rich for my skin right now | My current pick |
How I Compared Them
I tested both the Particle Face Cream and the Brickell 6-in-1 Gel for more than a month each.
During those testing periods, I kept my routine deliberately simple. Apart from washing my face morning and evening, I used the product I was testing exclusively — no extra moisturiser, no serum and no eye cream layered on top.
That matters because it gave me a much clearer idea of what each product was actually doing on my skin rather than trying to work out whether the results were coming from three or four different products.
I paid attention to texture, absorption, hydration, how my skin felt throughout the day, post-shave comfort, any visible change in smoothness or firmness, and whether I genuinely wanted to keep using it once the initial testing period was over.
Because both were tested for more than a month under very similar conditions, I think this is a much fairer comparison than simply putting the ingredient lists side by side.
Texture and Absorption
Brickell 6 in 1 is a gel.
This is one of the biggest differences.
Particle is a cream. It has a slightly richer texture and feels more substantial when I apply it. It isn’t greasy, but it does take a little longer to fully settle into the skin.
I actually like that, especially when my skin feels dry or needs something more nourishing.
The Brickell 6-in-1 is a gel, and it feels completely different.
It’s lighter, fresher and absorbs much faster. Within seconds, it feels like it has almost disappeared into my skin.
If you hate the feeling of moisturiser sitting on your face, Brickell wins this one easily.
Which One Feels Better on Mature Skin?
At 52, I care much more about how my skin genuinely feels than chasing unrealistic promises about looking ten years younger.
Particle gives me a softer, more nourished feeling. My skin feels smoother and properly moisturised, especially after using it consistently, and it gives me a slightly richer level of hydration overall.
That makes it particularly appealing if your skin is dry or tends to feel tight after washing.
Brickell gives me a different experience. It feels fresher, lighter and tighter almost immediately, and that subtle tightening sensation is one of the things I noticed straight away and really liked.
It doesn’t mean my wrinkles suddenly disappear, but my skin feels a little firmer and more awake.
Brickell still hydrates very well, but because the gel is lighter, it never feels as rich or heavy as Particle.
For my skin right now, that is actually an advantage.
So if I wanted richer hydration and a more nourishing feel, I’d choose Particle.
If I wanted lighter hydration, faster absorption and that fresher, tighter feeling, I’d choose Brickell.
Post-Shave Use
Both products work well after shaving.
I regularly shave my cheek lines and neckline, and neither product has caused irritation for me.
Particle feels calming and comfortable after shaving.
Brickell works equally well but absorbs faster, which makes it particularly practical in the morning when I don’t want to wait around before getting on with the rest of my day.
For post-shave comfort, I’d call this one a draw.
What About Eye Bags and Wrinkles?
This is where I think men need to keep their expectations realistic.
Both products are designed to help improve the appearance of ageing skin, but no moisturiser is going to erase deep wrinkles or make pronounced eye bags disappear overnight.
Particle has helped my skin feel smoother and look healthier overall, but the difference around my eye area has always been more modest.
The same applies to Brickell.
I think both can support healthier-looking skin, but if eye bags are your main concern, I’d still prefer using a dedicated eye cream.
Ingredients: What’s Actually Inside Them?
The formulas take quite different approaches, and I think that helps explain why they feel so different on my skin.
Particle Face Cream has the richer formula. Some of its key ingredients include niacinamide, jojoba oil, squalane, shea butter, glycerin and hyaluronic acid, all of which help support hydration and the skin barrier.
It also contains allantoin, which is known for its soothing properties, plus coffee seed extract, Vitamin E, a Vitamin C derivative and lactic acid.
For me, that combination makes sense when I think about how Particle actually feels. It is more nourishing and leaves my skin feeling softer and more moisturised. The presence of ingredients such as shea butter, squalane and jojoba oil also helps explain why I sometimes find it a little rich for my skin right now.
Brickell 6-in-1 Gel takes a lighter approach. Its formula includes glycerin, aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, sunflower oil and Vitamin E for hydration and skin conditioning.
It also contains Vitamin C, MSM, licorice root extract, Centella asiatica and cucumber water, alongside a range of botanical extracts and amino acids.
The interesting thing is that despite containing several moisturising ingredients, Brickell never feels heavy on my face. It has a much lighter gel texture and disappears into my skin very quickly.
I wouldn’t choose either product purely because one has a longer or more impressive-looking ingredient list, though.
After testing both for more than a month, how the formula actually performs on my skin matters much more to me.
And that is really the biggest difference: Particle feels richer and more nourishing, while Brickell feels lighter, fresher and faster absorbing.
Which One Would I Buy?
Today, I would personally buy the Brickell 6-in-1 Gel Face Moisturizer.
The main reasons are the way it absorbs so quickly and the subtle tightening effect I notice after applying it. It feels light, fresh and very easy to use every day.
That doesn’t mean I think Particle is a bad product — far from it.
The Particle Face Cream is still an excellent moisturiser, and I’ve had very good results with it over time.
But for my skin right now, I think Particle can feel a little too rich.
If my skin were drier, especially during colder weather, I could easily see myself preferring Particle again. But at the moment, the lighter texture and faster absorption of the Brickell 6-in-1 simply suit me better.
That’s why, if I had to choose between the two today, Brickell would be my pick.
Final Thoughts
Both Particle Face Cream and the Brickell 6-in-1 Gel are excellent options for men who want to keep skincare simple and effective.
Particle is richer and more nourishing, while Brickell feels lighter and absorbs faster.
For me, Brickell suits my skin better right now, but I’d happily recommend either depending on your skin type and the texture you prefer.
