QCY Melobuds N70 Review: Affordable Premium Earbuds

QCY Melobuds N70 Review

While Apple keeps pushing the price tag higher with every new pair of AirPods Pro, QCY has gone in the opposite direction — launching an affordable yet premium alternative: the MeloBuds N70. Priced at under $60, these earbuds promise a lot for the money — Hi-Res Audio Wireless, LDAC, Fast Pair with Android, and of course, Active Noise Cancellation.

I’ve been using the QCY MeloBuds N70 for just over a week now, switching between my iPhone 15 Plus (with Spotify and Qobuz) and my Samsung Galaxy. In this review, I’ll share my honest thoughts to help you decide if they deserve a spot as your next pair of earbuds.

Disclaimer: QCY kindly sent me the MeloBuds N70 for review purposes, but as always, all opinions are my own. The brand did not preview or influence this review in any way.

Packaging and Design

The packaging is typical QCY — clean, neat, and packed with all the essential information. Inside the box, you’ll find the MeloBuds N70 tucked inside their charging case, along with a USB-C cable, a set of eight earplugs in different sizes (in case the default ones don’t fit quite right), and a small instruction leaflet.

The charging case is made from glossy black plastic with the QCY logo subtly placed on the back. I actually like its compact size and lightweight feel — it slips easily into a pocket. However, the design isn’t perfect. Getting the earbuds out of the case is surprisingly awkward, and it’s honestly a bit frustrating at times. It’s much easier to put them back in than to take them out, which I’d say is a bit of a design flaw.

The earbuds themselves, on the other hand, are stunning. I love the combination of matte and glossy black — it gives them a sleek, modern look that feels far more premium than their price tag suggests. They sit securely in my ears, even during long walks or when I’m working at my desk, and they’re genuinely comfortable to wear for extended periods.

QCY has clearly nailed the earbud design — it’s just a shame about the case!

Pairing and QCY App

Pairing the QCY MeloBuds N70 with my iPhone 15 Plus was quick and effortless. Honestly, I didn’t experience a single issue — the connection was instant, and once paired, Bluetooth 6.0 kept everything rock solid. I never lost connection, even when walking around the house.

Thanks to Fast Pair, connecting the MeloBuds N70 to my Samsung Galaxy was just as seamless. If you’re an Android guy, you’ll love how easy and fast it is — they pair in seconds.

The QCY app, available on both the App Store and Google Play, is another strong point. It’s great to have all your QCY earbuds and headphones in one place, and this app does exactly that. You’ll need it to control Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, and to fine-tune your sound through the equaliser. I personally find the app very straightforward and pleasant to use.

I noticed it has a surprisingly low rating on the App Store — honestly, I don’t get it. In my experience, it’s been stable, intuitive, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Sound Quality and Active Noise Cancellation

Now let’s talk about sound quality — and honestly, at this price range, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The MeloBuds N70 sound way above their price tag. What impressed me the most is how loud and full-bodied they can get. This isn’t my first time reviewing QCY earbuds, and I’ve always been happy with their sound for the price, but the MeloBuds N70are probably the best-sounding pair I’ve tried from them so far.

As always, if you want to make the most of the Hi-Res Wireless Audio and LDAC support, you’ll need an Android phone and a streaming service that offers Hi-Res audio. Personally, I use Qobuz, but now that Spotify has rolled out its lossless Hi-Res option, you can also enjoy high-quality streaming there. When you do, these earbuds truly shine — the sound is crisp, detailed, and punchy with great balance.

On the iPhone, they still sound very good, though I find that Hi-Res Audio with LDAC on Android delivers a slightly richer experience. But trust me, even if you only use an iPhone, you’ll be more than happy with the sound quality.

The Active Noise Cancellation (up to 56 dB) is also surprisingly good. Of course, it’s not on the same level as premium models from Sony or Apple — but for earbuds that cost under $60/£60, it’s genuinely impressive. It effectively reduces background hums like traffic or air conditioning and makes a big difference when you’re working or commuting.

There’s also a Transparency Mode that works well enough when you want to stay aware of your surroundings, and you can adjust everything through the app, including a selection of EQ presets.

I’m not someone who takes calls often through earbuds, but I did test them — and everyone on the other end said they could hear me clearly. So no issues there either.

Overall, for the price you pay, you get a high level of audio quality and features that genuinely rival far more expensive earbuds.

Final Thoughts

The QCY MeloBuds N70 offer a lot for the price — from their stylish design and great sound quality to very decent ANC, good battery life (up to 50 hours with the case), and the bonus of wireless charging. At $60, you honestly can’t go wrong.

Yes, the charging case design could definitely be improved — it’s a bit fiddly when taking the earbuds out. But even though it can be annoying at times, it’s a small compromise I’m happy to live with considering everything else these earbuds deliver.

If you’re a casual music listener or simply looking for a reliable, affordable pair of earbuds for your everyday life — whether it’s a walk outside, a gym session, or just relaxing at home — you’ll be very happy with these.

If, on the other hand, you’re an audiophile chasing the most refined sound and want to hear every subtle detail of a live classical concert, then these might not be your perfect match.

But for most people, I can easily recommend the QCY MeloBuds N70. They’re an incredible value-for-money option that proves once again that great sound doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
