TOZO NC20 Review: Months of Real-World Testing (2026)

The TOZO NC20 are not flagship earbuds. They sit comfortably under $70. Yet after several months of daily use — dog walks, café work sessions, calls, and long listening evenings at home — they've genuinely surprised me. They don't feel like a compromise. In fact, they outperform several models I've tested that cost more.

There’s nothing flashy here, but that’s not a negative. TOZO clearly prioritises the product itself over premium packaging, and I’d much rather see the budget spent on sound quality and battery life than presentation.
Setup Experience (with App)
I paired the TOZO NC20 with my iPhone 15 Plus, and the setup was genuinely effortless. As soon as I opened the charging case, the earbuds appeared in the Bluetooth menu and connected instantly.
The TOZO app is a must-have. It downloaded quickly from the App Store, recognised the earbuds straight away, and gives you access to a large library of community-created EQ presets, alongside custom EQ options and different ANC modes. The app is very user-friendly, easy to navigate, and responsive. If you own other TOZO products, switching between devices inside the app is simple and intuitive, making it easy to manage multiple earbuds or headphones from one place.
From opening the box to listening to music took less than a minute. No pairing issues, no unnecessary steps — just a smooth, hassle-free start.
Build Quality
The build quality of the TOZO NC20 is honestly a pleasant surprise. As soon as I picked up the charging case, it felt more solid than I expected for earbuds in this price range. There's a reassuring weight to it, and the hinge opens and closes smoothly without any creaking or looseness.
The dark grey finish looks clean and understated, and the glossy front panel with the TOZO logo adds a subtle premium touch without being flashy. I also really like the LED battery indicator on the front — it's simple, clear, and genuinely useful in everyday use.
The magnetic hold inside the case is very strong. That's great for keeping the earbuds secure when you're on the move, although it does mean they can take a little effort to remove from the case at times. It's not a deal-breaker, but worth mentioning.
As for the earbuds themselves, they're lightweight, minimalist, and extremely comfortable. They don't feel cheap, and after long listening sessions, they never caused pressure or fatigue. In fact, they've quickly become some of the most comfortable earbuds I've worn this year.

What impressed me most is how consistent the experience has been. Whether I was outdoors dealing with background noise or sitting down with my laptop and a coffee, the NC20 never felt like budget earbuds struggling to keep up.

The ANC is genuinely impressive for this price range. It does a great job of reducing traffic noise during walks and softening background chatter when I'm working in a café. What really elevates the experience is the app. Thanks to the large library of community-created EQ presets, it's easy to fine-tune the sound depending on what you're listening to. I found myself switching EQs depending on whether I was listening to music, podcasts, or just background audio while working.
Spatial Audio
I tested spatial audio mainly with video content and Apple Music, and it adds a noticeable sense of space and immersion. It's not something I'd use all the time, but when watching films or series on my phone, it definitely enhances the experience — especially for earbuds in this price bracket.
Comfort & Everyday Use
Comfort is where the NC20 really shine. They're extremely lightweight, sit securely in the ear, and never caused discomfort, even during long walks or extended listening sessions. I often forgot I was wearing them, which is probably the highest compliment you can give a pair of earbuds.
Overall User Experience
After months of daily use, the TOZO NC20 feel reliable, comfortable, and easy to live with. No connection drops, no app issues, no annoying quirks — just a smooth, enjoyable experience that fits naturally into everyday life.
Battery Life (Real-World Use)
Battery life has been one of the biggest highlights for me with the TOZO NC20. Over months of daily use, I rarely found myself thinking about charging them at all — which says a lot.
I used them for walks with Marlow, working sessions at cafés, calls, and casual listening at home, and the battery just kept going. With the charging case, TOZO claims up to 80 hours of total playback, and based on my usage, that figure doesn't feel exaggerated.
The case supports USB-C fast charging and wireless charging, which makes topping them up very convenient. In real life, this means you can go several days — sometimes close to a full week — without needing to plug anything in. For everyday earbuds, that's outstanding.
How the TOZO NC20 Compare to the QCY MeloBuds N70
I reviewed the QCY MeloBuds N70 last year, and they've been one of my go-to recommendations for budget ANC earbuds ever since. So comparing them to the TOZO NC20 felt natural — both sit under $70, both offer ANC, both support LDAC for Hi-Res Audio Wireless, and both punch well above their weight.
Sound-wise, they're close but different. The QCY MeloBuds N70 are louder — they have an exciting, forward presentation that grabs your attention, especially on Android with LDAC streaming lossless audio through Qobuz or Spotify Hi-Fi. But for my taste, I prefer the sound signature of the TOZO NC20. They sound more balanced, more natural, and less fatiguing over long listening sessions. Vocals come through cleaner, podcasts sound more natural, and music has a warmth that I genuinely enjoy more day to day.
Both have solid ANC. The QCY are rated up to 56dB, which looks impressive on paper. In real-world use, both do a very good job of reducing traffic hum and café chatter, and neither feels like a clear winner — they're both strong for the price.
Where the TOZO NC20 pull ahead is the overall experience. The battery life is better. The TOZO app, with its community EQ presets, is far more useful for fine-tuning sound than QCY's more basic equaliser. And comfort? The NC20 are lighter and sit more naturally in the ear. I also found the TOZO case easier to live with — the QCY case, while compact, has a genuinely frustrating design that makes taking the earbuds out needlessly awkward.
If you want the louder, more exciting sound and you mainly use Android, the QCY MeloBuds N70 are still a very strong choice. But for a more refined sound signature, better battery life, superior comfort, and a more polished everyday experience — the TOZO NC20 are the better all-rounder.
Who the TOZO NC20 Are Best For
The TOZO NC20 are ideal for people looking for comfortable, easy-to-use ANC earbuds that fit naturally into everyday life.
They're a great choice if you:
Want excellent battery life and don't want to charge your earbuds constantly
Spend time walking, commuting, or working in cafés
Use an iPhone and want a smooth setup with a well-designed companion app
Like being able to customise sound using community-created EQ presets
Want strong ANC and comfort without paying flagship prices
If you're an iPhone user, it's easy to default to AirPods — and that's understandable. However, after using the TOZO NC20 daily with my iPhone 15 Plus for months, it's clear that you don't have to spend AirPods money to get a great experience. The NC20 pair instantly with iOS, work reliably day to day, and offer features like extensive EQ customisation and outstanding battery life at a much more accessible price point.
They may be less suitable if you:
Prefer a very neutral, studio-style sound
Want the absolute strongest ANC available regardless of price
Final Thoughts
After using the TOZO NC20 every day for several months, they've proven to be reliable, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable earbuds to live with. From long walks with Marlow to quiet work sessions in cafés and everyday listening at home, they've slotted effortlessly into my routine.
What stands out most is the balance TOZO has achieved here. The sound quality is engaging, the ANC is very effective for daily use, the app adds real value thanks to its extensive EQ options, and the battery life is simply outstanding. Nothing about the NC20 feels rushed or compromised, despite their very accessible price.
For iPhone users in particular, it's easy to default to AirPods. But the NC20 show that there are excellent alternatives out there if you're willing to look beyond the obvious choice. They work flawlessly with iOS, offer far more sound customisation, and last significantly longer between charges — all without paying flagship prices.
The TOZO NC20 aren't trying to compete with the most expensive earbuds on the market, and that's exactly why they work so well. They focus on comfort, practicality, and real-world performance — and in that sense, they're one of the most well-rounded budget ANC earbuds I've tested this year.
